The Cycle

I am no different than those before me

This is a long line of sitting in a room and talking in circles

We imagine a better world and then drink on the weekdays

I go home smelling like cigarettes and it feels like a warm embrace

We probably uttered these same words this time last year

Maybe that one song was right but it doesn't make me feel any better

I'm stuck in the goo beneath my feet

It smelled oh so sweet

I'll just become like those before me

walk me home and peel me oranges

I'd walk you home and peel you oranges,

but I don't think you'd do the same for me.

Maybe I won't be malleable this time and Maybe I won't stick my neck out and Maybe I won't even have to ask.

Maybe you'll walk me home and peel me oranges

but my nails are stained yellow and they're full of pulp and my legs ache

Gross Amalgamation

sometimes i catch myself smiling like you would

a big toothy grin with my head tilted up (mostly when i'm drunk)

my phone is still in military time because i thought it would make you like me

I watched all of the movies that you suggested. I added the songs to my library. I bought the books. I swear I'll read them some day.

You showed me the hardcore scene and now i walk around with screams in my ears

one time you told me that you felt like a lion in a cage on display at the circus,

oh how you've changed since then

you said that i taught you what love is but you only taught me that people lie and cheat

you taught me how to hate. we were the same person so it's kind of like you taught me how to hate myself. we were supposed to age together but you lost your mind. i wonder if you ever found it.

you showed me how to hit your pen and questioned my identity. choking on that smoke hurt so bad and your name is fucking stupid.

I love you

I loved you

Do you love me?

Did I leave a branding on you like you left on me?
